Showers will occur intermittently today in the Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as the Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts. The Department of Meteorology issued a statement noting that certain areas within the Uva and Eastern provinces, and the Hambantota, Matale, and Nuwara Eliya districts, might experience heavy falls exceeding 50 mm. Additionally, the Northern province and Anuradhapura district expect several rounds of rain throughout the day.
Elsewhere on the island, thundershowers are likely to develop after 2:00 p.m. Heavy rainfall surpassing 50 mm remains possible in parts of the Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle, and Matara districts. Wind speeds could increase to 30-40 kmph at times across the Northern and North-Western provinces, along with the Matale, Trincomalee, and Anuradhapura districts.
