Akuregoda double murder suspect revealed as former soldier

The gunman arrested for the fatal shooting of an attorney and his wife in Akuregoda has been identified as a forty-six-year-old former member of the Sri Lanka Army.

Investigations confirmed the suspect is a resident of Baddegama, Galle. Following his arrest, the authorities have scheduled his appearance before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court today (22).

Police are expected to request a detention order to further investigate the suspect's involvement in the targeted hit, which took place in front of a supermarket earlier this month.
