Twelve individuals arrested for participating in an unlawful assembly, assaulting police officers, and obstructing their duties received a remand order until the 5th for an identification parade.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Lahiru Silva issued the order after Pettah Police produced the suspects in court.
The group consists of twelve traders operating in the Pettah area.
According to police reports submitted to the court, the incident occurred when officers attempted to inspect two Palestinian nationals acting suspiciously within the Pettah shopping complex.
The suspects allegedly intervened to prevent the officers from performing their duties, resulting in an assault on two intelligence officers and one officer from the Pettah Police.
Further investigations into the matter are being conducted by the Pettah Police.
