U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, joined Sri Lanka Navy Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Damian Fernando aboard SLNS Gajabahu, a former U.S. Coast Guard vessel, symbolising the strength of the longstanding U.S.–Sri Lanka maritime partnership.
The fourth former U.S. Coast Guard cutter—ex-USCGC Decisive—currently on its Pacific journey to Sri Lanka, is expected to further enhance maritime security cooperation and regional collaboration between the two countries.
During his visit, Gor also held talks with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on expanding U.S.–Sri Lanka trade ties through increased U.S. investment, new commercial opportunities, and growth in Sri Lanka’s ports sector, as both sides seek to deepen economic cooperation and bilateral relations.
