Sri Lanka and Brazil aim for 1 bn USD bilateral trade

Bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and Brazil is set to grow to one billion US dollars by the year 2030 following a mutual agreement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism announced this decision after the second round of bilateral political consultations held at the ministry. Both parties agreed to expedite agreements regarding security, law enforcement, combating human trafficking and organized crime, Ayurvedic medicine, and diplomatic training.

The announcement further noted that agreements related to dairy livestock and sugarcane projects are expected to be signed soon with the support of the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC). Discussions also covered President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's upcoming visit to Brazil, and both sides agreed to re-establish the previously suspended Parliamentary Friendship Groups.
