Marlbo Trading introduces Holmatro Rescue solutions for emergency response

Marlbo Trading Company has announced the introduction of Holmatro Rescue, a globally recognized leader in rescue equipment and emergency response solutions from the Netherlands, to enhance rescue operations and emergency preparedness in Sri Lanka.

The company has also been appointed as the official agent in Sri Lanka for Holmatro Rescue solutions.

Chairman of Marlbo Trading Company, M. Maniyamuthu, said Sri Lanka continues to face a growing number of road traffic accidents, industrial incidents, fire emergencies, structural collapses, and natural disasters each year.

“Thousands of people are injured or lose their lives annually, and one of the key reasons is delays in extracting injured persons from accident sites,” he said.

He noted that rescue teams require reliable, modern equipment to operate quickly, safely, and effectively, adding that Marlbo Trading is promoting a portable, battery-powered Holmatro rescue device that can be operated by a single person.

Holmatro, a European manufacturer with over 50 years of experience, is widely used by fire and rescue services, emergency response units, military organizations, airports, law enforcement agencies, and disaster management teams in more than 100 countries.

“These solutions are designed to help responders gain access faster, operate more efficiently, and ultimately save lives under the most challenging conditions,” he said.

Maniyamuthu added that the initiative is being promoted as a CSR effort to save lives during disasters, with discussions underway to expand its availability through government institutions and rural deployment.

He noted that while some fire brigades, Colombo Airport, and select organizations already use such equipment, wider adoption is needed across highway authorities, disaster management centers, bus depots, and other key institutions.

He further observed that similar equipment is widely used across India, including in fire services, industrial facilities, airports, ports, hotels, and other emergency-prone sectors.

To mark the launch, Marlbo Trading Company hosted a Holmatro Fire & Rescue Seminar and Live Practical Demonstration at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo on Wednesday. The event provided participants with insights into Holmatro’s capabilities, challenges faced by local emergency responders, and the role of modern rescue technologies in improving outcomes.
