Seven dairy cows died, and two others suffered severe injuries following a wild elephant attack in the Kasikote area of Ambanpola early this morning (28).
A wild elephant targeted nine cows belonging to two local dairy farmers while the animals stayed in their milking sheds, according to a local reporter. Seven cows died instantly at the scene, while the remaining two remain in critical condition.
The affected farming families face significant hardship as they have lost their primary source of income. Consequently, residents urge authorities to provide a permanent solution to the ongoing wild elephant threat in the region.
