Gampaha Chief Magistrate Bandula Gunaratne announced a verdict today (30) regarding a dispute over a party office located at Salmal Uyana on the Yakkala Road, granting possession to the Frontline Socialist Party.
A conflict occurred between supporters of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and the Frontline Socialist Party at this location on September 2, 2025.
Following a complaint to the Yakkala Police and subsequent reporting to the court, authorities initially handed over control of the office to the Yakkala Police.
Former Magistrate Silani Perera had previously deliberated on the matter during two months of legal proceedings.
Chief Magistrate Bandula Gunaratne noted during the announcement that the opposing party failed to submit any claims regarding the ownership of the office within the past two months.
The magistrate clarified that this decision to grant possession to the Frontline Socialist Party remains a temporary ruling.
Lawyer Krishan Fernandopulle represented the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna in the case. Lawyers Nuwan Bopage and Dinusha Thiranagama appeared on behalf of the Frontline Socialist Party.
