Two individuals lost their lives, and three others sustained serious injuries following separate motorcycle crashes in Parasangaswewa and Kandy yesterday (31) afternoon.
In the Parasangaswewa police area, a head-on collision between two motorcycles traveling in opposite directions on the Rathmale-Medagama road resulted in the death of a 25-year-old passenger.
The victim was a resident of the Ambagaswewa area.
Both riders involved in the collision are currently receiving treatment at the Parasangaswewa Hospital for their injuries.
Separately, a 33-year-old woman residing in Gannoruwa died following an incident on William Gopallawa Mawatha in Kandy.
The event occurred when a motorcycle traveling toward Peradeniya attempted to overtake a bus from the left side.
The rider lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The woman, who was riding as a passenger, fell beneath the bus during the fall.
A four-year-old child traveling with her also sustained severe injuries and remains hospitalised at the Kandy National Hospital.
Local police in both Parasangaswewa and Kandy are conducting further investigations into these events.
