Major three-wheeler theft ring uncovered following drug arrest

Kiribathgoda Police uncovered a series of three-wheeler thefts across several areas following a confession from a suspect initially detained on drug charges. Police Headquarters states that the investigation led to the recovery of four stolen vehicles and the arrest of two additional suspects involved in purchasing the vehicles and forging documents.

Officers from the Kiribathgoda Police Station originally arrested a man on March 31 for possession of 'ICE' (Crystal Meth). During extended questioning under a detention order, he revealed his direct involvement in four three-wheeler thefts within the Peliyagoda, Wattala, and Kelaniya police divisions.

Acting on this information, investigation teams conducted a special operation in Hingurakgoda yesterday (06). They arrested a suspect involved in purchasing and disposing of the stolen vehicles, along with another individual responsible for creating fraudulent documents for the three-wheelers.

The suspects arrested in Hingurakgoda are residents of the area aged 61 and 75. All four stolen three-wheelers were successfully taken into police custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
