New Year is a renaissance of coexistence and mutual bonds

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year represents more than a mere festival; it signifies a new renaissance of coexistence and mutual relationships within cultural value systems, according to Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya. She made these remarks while extending her greetings for the dawning New Year.

The alignment of an entire country to a single rhythm by performing rituals at the same auspicious time is a unique feature of the Sri Lankan identity, the Prime Minister highlighted in her message. She further noted that despite busy schedules and challenges, this serves as an ideal opportunity to move forward with new hopes as families and as a nation.

The true blessing of the New Year lies in discarding past resentments and making a fresh start with brotherhood. The Prime Minister emphasised that it is everyone's responsibility to maintain the collective strength shown as a nation in the face of adversity.
