The Department of Meteorology issued an advisory for severe lightning in parts of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Central provinces, as well as the Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, Kurunegala, and Trincomalee districts.
Thunderstorms accompanied by severe lightning may occur in these areas after approximately 1:00 pm today.
Temporary strong winds are also expected in these regions during thundershowers.
The department advises the public to take necessary precautions to minimise risks associated with lightning.
