Free Lawyers want open COPA meeting over missing Treasury funds

Investigations are underway into the disappearance of US$ 2.5 million.

Minister of Health and Mass Media Nalinda Jayatissa said this during a national operation to eradicate narcotics held at the Kalutara District Secretariat.

Meanwhile, the Free Lawyers organisation requested an open meeting of the Committee on Public Accounts during the upcoming parliamentary session to initiate an investigation with the Auditor General regarding this incident.

In a letter to Committee Chairman and Member of Parliament Kabir Hashim, the organisation pointed out that Parliament holds a significant responsibility in this matter under the financial powers granted by the Constitution.
