Man dies following physical dispute between friends

A 36-year-old individual died last night after a dispute with a friend escalated into a physical attack in the Gurunagar area of the Jaffna police division.

The victim and a friend consumed alcohol together in Gurunagar when a sudden argument broke out between them. During the confrontation, the friend struck the victim with a glass bottle. Although the critically injured man reached the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for treatment, he later succumbed to his injuries.

Jaffna Police officers acted on the received information and arrested a 42-year-old suspect in connection with the fatality. Authorities plan to produce the suspect before the Jaffna Court today. Further investigations continue under the direction of the Jaffna Police Station Headquarters Inspector.
