The National Dengue Control Unit announced the implementation of special Dengue eradication programmes in high-risk areas beginning tomorrow.
Consultant Specialist Dr Prashila Samaraweera noted that these efforts will focus particularly on the Colombo, Gampaha, and Galle districts. Recent intermittent rainfall created perfect conditions for mosquito breeding, resulting in a spike in cases. To date, officials have recorded 25,846 cases and 12 fatalities this year, which include two children under the age of 12.
