Landslide warnings issued for 8 districts

Early landslide warnings were issued for several Divisional Secretariat divisions across 8 districts by the National Building Research Institute (NBRI) due to ongoing heavy rainfall.

This directive remains active from 9:00 PM tonight (11) until 9:00 PM tomorrow (12).

Level 1 'Watch' warnings, indicated by the color yellow, apply to the following areas: Bandarawela in Badulla; Walallawita in Kalutara; Pasbage Korale, Akurana, Gangawata Korale, Panvila, Yatinuwara, Ganga Ihala Korale, Doluwa, and Udapalatha in Kandy; Mawanella, Bulathkohupitiya, Yatiyantota, Aranayaka, Kegalle, and Rambukkana in Kegalle; Ridigama in Kurunegala; Rattota, Naula, and Ambanganga Korale in Matale; Badalkumbura and Wellawaya in Monaragala; and Kalawana, Ratnapura, and Godakawela in the Ratnapura district.

Additionally, a Level 2 'Alert' warning, marked in amber, is in effect for the Passara Divisional Secretariat division in the Badulla district. The NBRO advises residents in this specific area to remain highly vigilant regarding potential landslide risks.
