The Department of Meteorology says the low-pressure area located to the northeast of Sri Lanka continues to influence the island’s weather conditions.
As a result, intermittent showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts.
Heavy rainfall of up to 75 mm is likely in some areas.
Several spells of rain are also expected in the Anuradhapura District.
Meanwhile, a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces may experience showers or thundershowers after 1 p.m.
The Department of Meteorology further warned that sea areas extending from Kankesanthurai to Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota, and up to Pottuvil, off the coast, may be rough at times.
In addition, the Irrigation Department stated that the flood warning issued for the Attanagalu Oya basin remains in effect.
Meanwhile, the National Building Research Institute has also extended its landslide early warnings to 13 districts.
The warnings will remain in effect for the districts of Badulla, Colombo, Galle, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Matale, Matara, Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya, and Ratnapura.
