A school student got injured and was admitted to the Dickoya Base Hospital following a road accident this morning (22) at the Norwood Venture Estate area on the Hatton–Bagawanthalawa road.
Police say a private bus transporting schoolchildren collided head-on with a tipper truck coming from the opposite direction.
The accident occurred around 7.10 a.m., reportedly after the tipper truck skidded due to adverse weather conditions and crashed into the bus.
About 20 students and teachers were on board the bus at the time of the incident.
Both vehicles sustained severe damage.
Norwood Police have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution when driving in bad weather conditions.
