A suspect arrested by the Welikada Police in connection with the robbery of Rs. 38,500 from a hired car driver after allegedly strangling him during a trip, has been remanded until June 10 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Nuwan Kaushalya today (01).
The order was issued after the suspect was produced before court by prison officials.
The Magistrate ordered that the suspect be remanded until he is presented for an identification parade.
Presenting further facts to court, Welikada Police stated that investigations revealed the suspect had entered the complainant’s vehicle in Rajagiriya for a hired trip.
According to the complaint, after travelling a short distance, the suspect allegedly strangled the driver and robbed him of Rs. 38,500.
Police informed court that further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
