Ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, two officers banned from travel

The Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today (03) issued an order imposing a foreign travel ban on former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and two military officers in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

The Magistrate also instructed the court registrar to immediately forward the order to the Controller of Immigration and Emigration.

The travel ban applies to former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, retired Army Colonel Mohammed Ansar, and former intelligence officer Premananda Udalagama.

The order was issued following a request made to court by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in relation to the case.

Meanwhile, former head of the State Intelligence Service, Suresh Sallay, is currently being detained and questioned under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) over CID investigations linked to the Easter Sunday attacks.

Suresh Sallay has also been named as the third suspect in the case filed over the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
