Finance Ministry seeks public proposals to boost state revenue

The Revenue Management Committee of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has called for proposals, policy recommendations and analytical reports from local expert bodies, professional institutions, the private sector and any Sri Lankan citizen to help achieve the medium- and long-term goal of raising government revenue to 20% of GDP.

The committee, established under the Public Financial Management Act No. 44 of 2024, issued this public notice.

Submissions may cover a range of areas including formalising the informal economy, broadening the tax base, digitising revenue collection agencies, encouraging voluntary tax compliance, and implementing data-driven revenue systems.

Individuals with expertise in public finance policy in Sri Lanka are encouraged to submit proposals in PDF format, including a summary, implementation methodology and expected impact.

The deadline for submissions is June 16, 2026, and all proposals should be sent to [email protected], the committee further stated.
