It has been reported that former Director of the State Intelligence Service Suresh Sallay has begun a hunger strike till death inside the prison where he is being held, in protest against severe pressure and alleged injustices directed at him.
Speaking at a press conference a short while ago, Udaya Gammanpila, leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, stated that Sallay is being subjected to inhumane treatment by police officers acting on the instructions of the President, and that he is unable to endure the conditions.
