The Department of Meteorology informed that intermittent rain or thundershowers may occur today (10) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North Western Provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya Districts.
Light rain may occur in the Anuradhapura and Hambantota Districts.
Strong winds of around 40–50 km/h may occur intermittently in the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern and North Central Provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee Districts.
In other areas, fairly strong winds of around 30–40 km/h may occur from time to time, the Met Department forecast added.
The department has urged the public to take necessary precautions to minimise risks from temporary strong winds, lightning, and other hazards associated with thundershowers.
