The Colombo High Court today (11) dismissed the appeal filed by Shashi Weerawansa against the two-year prison sentence and fine imposed for the possession of an irregular passport.
Delivering the ruling, High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne stated that the verdict delivered by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court against the appellant has been affirmed.
Shashi Weerawansa was previously convicted of the charge and sentenced by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court in 2022 to two years in prison and a fine of Rs. 100,000.
She had filed the appeal requesting to be acquitted of the said punishment.
