A minor flood situation developed in the Kalu Ganga basin, specifically in the low-lying areas of the Kuda Ganga sub-basin, following significant rainfall in its upper catchment areas.
The Department of Irrigation Hydrology and Disaster Management Division issued this warning at 7:30 pm yesterday, and it remains valid until 7:30 pm today.
An analysis of river gauges and rainfall patterns across the Kalu Ganga basin indicates that a significant or rapid rise in river water levels is unexpected within the next few hours.
Residents living in the low-lying floodplain areas of the Kuda Ganga and Maguru Ganga within the Bulathsinhala, Madurawala, and Palindanuwara Divisional Secretariat divisions must remain highly vigilant.
