Five suspects preparing to sell an exceptional stone suspected to possess antique value for twenty million rupees were arrested by the Pulmudai police.
The Police Headquarters states that this group of suspects was arrested during a raid conducted yesterday following a confidential tip-off received by police officers regarding an antiquity trafficking racket taking place in the Thennamaram area within the Pulmudai police division.
Those arrested are residents of Puliyankulam, Echchilampattu, and Trincomalee, aged between 29 and 57.
The arrested suspects and the stone held as case property will be produced before court, whilst the Pulmudai police conduct further investigations regarding the incident.
