Public Health Inspectors in Gothatuwa say that during this month, fines amounting to Rs. 1,670,000 were imposed on 136 individuals and 23 institutions being found guilty of allowing mosquito breeding.
They stated that during raids conducted in the Gothatuwa area this month, 186 individuals and 23 institutions were identified for creating conditions conducive to mosquito breeding and were produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court, where the fines were imposed.
Colombo Additional Magistrate H. D. Darshima Premaratne issued the fines.
Public health officials further noted that inspections and raids to identify dengue mosquito breeding sites will continue.
