A heated verbal confrontation has reportedly happened between Member of Parliament Ramanathan Archchuna and Member of Parliament Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam during a meeting of the Tellippalai Divisional Development Committee.
The committee meeting, which was held yesterday (18), was chaired by S. Sripavanandarajah.
Discussions focused on bringing the Tellippalai Hospital and its cancer treatment unit under the central government and developing the facility to improve services for the public.
Several other issues were also discussed, including the Thaiyiddy Vihara, transport-related matters, and land release concerns.
According to reports, an argument was raised between the two MPs during discussions relating to Tellippalai Hospital.
It is further reported that MP Archchuna has come under criticism for using a phrase that translates roughly as “I’ll pick you up and hit you,” during the exchange.
