Colombo High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela called the case today.

The court recorded evidence from the witnesses of the prosecution during the proceedings.

The judge subsequently ordered the further hearing to be called on 30 July.

CIABOC filed this case against former minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena and another individual, accusing them of committing an offence under the Anti-Corruption Act by causing a loss of 1,748,877.76 rupees to the government.

This loss allegedly occurred through the publication of supplements in 11 newspapers using funds from the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka on 19 November 2014, to mark the second inauguration of Mahinda Rajapaksa.
