Laws to suppress organised crime to replace PTA, says President

A new law to suppress organised crime and protect public rights will be introduced to replace the Prevention of Terrorism Act, the President states.

The President made these remarks while commenting on the government's future security and legal reforms. The President further pointed out that the new legal framework aims to abolish the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), which faced severe local and international criticism for a long time, and replace it with a system to suppress organised criminal gangs in a manner that suits current society, thereby ensuring the human rights and freedom of ordinary citizens in the country.
