The Court of Appeal will today (24) further consider a petition filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa seeking an injunction to prevent his arrest in connection with the Easter Sunday terror attack investigations.
The writ petition filed by former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was previously considered on the 18th of June before a two-judge bench comprising Court of Appeal President Judge Rohantha Abeysuriya and Justice Sarath Dissanayake.
The President's Counsel, appearing on behalf of the former president, argued that respondents had groundlessly secured a travel ban against his client from the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court without any reasonable basis.
Furthermore, he alleged that an investigation had been conducted to restrict his client's freedom without any justifiable grounds.
