A female student from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Ruhuna has died from dengue fever amidst the ongoing epidemic.
The deceased has been identified as Sandali Tharaka, a resident of Deniyaya, Matara.
Before her condition deteriorated, she has sent a final WhatsApp message to a close friend stating, "I will come if I don't die."
The premature death of the student has left the entire university community in deep shock, with fellow undergraduates posting emotional tributes on social media.
