Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) decided to suspend the party membership and all positions held by Charith Abeyasinghe, the Horana electorate organiser, effective immediately, following his remand on June 25 in connection with an alleged bribery incident from 2023.
General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara stated in a release that Abeyasinghe did not serve as a member or organiser for the party during 2023, the period when the alleged incident took place.
The General Secretary emphasised that Abeyasinghe held no positions within Samagi Jana Balawegaya at that time.
The party further noted that Samagi Jana Balawegaya remains unopposed to the enforcement of law and legal action against individuals linked to corruption or illegal activities.
