The number of dengue patients across the island is growing rapidly.
A total of 986 dengue patients were reported within the past 24 hours alone, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.
Accordingly, the number of dengue patients reported so far this year increased to 53,159.
Meanwhile, the number of fatalities stands at 31.
Taking this situation into consideration, 124 Medical Officer of Health (MOH) divisions remain designated as dengue high-risk zones, the National Dengue Control Unit stated.
However, controlling the growing number of dengue patients is a responsibility of every individual and not just the government, Deputy Minister of Health and Media Dr Kaushalya Ariyarathne declared.
