Vatican appoints new Bishop of Jaffna

The Vatican recently named the Most Reverend Dr Anton Ranjith, previously the Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo and Apostolic Administrator of Batticaloa, as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Jaffna. This decision follows the Vatican's formal acceptance of the resignation of the Most Reverend Dr Justin Gnanapragasam, who served as the Bishop of Jaffna.
