Dengue risk shows slight decline in Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces

A slight reduction in dengue cases appears in the Southern, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces according to the National Dengue Control Unit. Acting Director Dr. Kapila Kannangara stated that 52.4% of reported cases originate from the Western Province.

A dengue control programme covering 22 medical officer of health divisions identified as high-risk areas in the Western Province continued for the third day today. A total of 62,422 dengue patients and 39 deaths appear in reports so far this year.

In addition, seven locations including Peradeniya Road near Kandy Police, Bahirawakanda, Nittawela Devi Road, and Heerassagala remain identified as high-risk zones. The administration of the University of Moratuwa decided yesterday to temporarily close the institution until the 21st, following reports of approximately 40 students contracting the virus.
