Colombo University students hit by dengue; 5 hospitalised

University of Colombo confirms 71 dengue cases, according to Vice Chancellor Professor Indika Karunathilake. Five students currently receive treatment in hospital.

The Vice Chancellor stated that they remain constantly observant regarding the sick students through continuous communication with the hospitals.

The highest number of dengue-infected students was reported from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Colombo.

Consequently, authorities decided to conduct lectures online or through a hybrid system only for that faculty and several other faculties located on those premises.

The decision to conduct online lectures for a period of one week was taken for the wellbeing of students who contracted dengue, those currently hospitalised, and those who recovered from the illness.
