President Anura Kumara increased estate worker wages by the largest amount in the country's history, according to Plantation and Community Infrastructure Minister Samantha Vidyaratne.
Answering a question raised in Parliament, the Minister stated that the daily wage of an estate worker went up by 400 rupees.
The Minister also stated that the National People's Power government is the only administration to increase the wages of estate people without any protests or strikes.
Furthermore, the Minister mentioned that the people in the estate sector currently engage in their jobs with great satisfaction.
