An A330 passenger aircraft that departed from the Katunayake International Airport for Istanbul, Turkey was struck by a bird.
The Civil Aviation Authority mentioned that the aircraft is flying very low in the skies of Chilaw at present to burn fuel, after which arrangements are being made to safely land back at Katunayake.
The aircraft carried 253 passengers and 10 crew members.
