A train operated for the first time today (11) from the Peradeniya Junction railway station to Pilimatalawa after the Ditwah cyclonic storm.
The train consisted of a locomotive engine and two carriages, which were transported from the Kandy railway station across the highway.
This train will be utilised to transport materials, machinery, and staff assigned for railway line repairs in the Ditwah storm-affected areas.
