Three suspects with illegal liquor arrested in raids

Three suspects were arrested with a stock of illegal liquor during three raids conducted in multiple areas of the country, Police stated.

A team of officers from the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Striking Unit conducted the first raid yesterday (11) in the Karadiyana area within the Piliyandala police division, where a 50-year-old suspect was arrested with 78 litres and 750 millilitres of illegal liquor. The suspect was handed over to the Piliyandala Police Station for further investigations.

A team of officers from the Chilaw Division Anti-Corruption Unit conducted a raid yesterday in the Thamarakuliya area within the Dankotuwa police division, arresting a 51-year-old suspect with 52 litres and 500 millilitres of illegal liquor.

Meanwhile, a team of officers from the Moragahahena Police Station arrested a suspect during a raid conducted in the Beliattavila area within the Moragahahena police division with 1,849.5 litres of goda contained in 10 barrels, along with 14 litres and 250 millilitres of illegal liquor. The arrested individual is a 38-year-old man residing in the Millewa area.

The Piliyandala, Dankotuwa, and Moragahahena police stations conduct further investigations.
