Central Province Governor Professor Sarath Abeykoon has forwarded his letter of resignation to President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka.
His resignation from the post of Central Province Governor has been forwarded through post.
Professor Sarath Abeykoon stated this when inquired about the matter.
He noted that no response yet received so far as to whether the President has accepted the resignation or not.
He further stated that the reason for resignation is personal.
Professor Sarath Abeykoon also served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya.
Similarly, the post of Central Province Governor's Secretary is also currently vacant as the former secretary Manjula Madahapola retired recently.
Secretary to the Central Province Public Service Commission Ishan Wijethilaka is appointed to over see responsibilities in an acting position.
