Chinese Embassy calls for full probe into Port City clash

A broad investigation should be conducted regarding the clash that arose between two groups of Chinese nationals in Colombo Port City, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka informed Sri Lanka Police.

True information regarding this clash must be revealed as soon as possible, and the Sri Lankan government and police are expected to act swiftly to protect the personal safety, legitimate rights, and interests of Chinese citizens, the Chinese Embassy stated.

Legal action must be taken against the individuals involved in this clash, the Chinese Embassy further informed Sri Lanka Police.

Around 11:00 last night (22), three Chinese nationals arrived at Port City in a modern jeep and were fishing from the hanging bridge located there.

Later around 2 this morning, another group of about 15 Chinese nationals arriving in a KDH type van parked the vehicle at the Port City car park and walked to the hanging bridge. It is reported that this group assaulted the three Chinese nationals fishing there and abducted one person among them.

The body of the abducted Chinese national was found in the Eheliyagoda area.
