Rainfall in the southwestern part of the island is expected to increase to some extent over the next few days starting today (28), the Department of Meteorology announced in a statement.
Showers may occur from time to time in the Sabaragamuwa province and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Several spells of rain may also occur in the Western and Northwestern provinces as well as the Galle and Matara districts, the department noted.
Mainly dry weather conditions will prevail in the remaining areas of the island.
Strong winds of about 40 to 50 kilometres per hour can be expected from time to time over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern and North-Central provinces, and the Hambantota, Trincomalee and Puttalam districts, according to the statement.
