Excise Department officers raided an illegal party held in the Arugam Bay area and seized a large quantity of items, including illegal liquor bottles.
Reports state that this party was held in the Arugam Bay area every Friday while being promoted via social media.
Excise officers, including the Colombo Excise Special Operations Unit, carried out this raid last Friday when a group from the Tangalle area was holding a party at the venue.
Excise officers stated that a stock of e-cigarettes worth around Rs. 3 million, 100 imported liquor bottles, and 646 beer cans were found at the location during the raid.
Measures were taken to produce the arrested suspects, liquor, and stock of e-cigarettes before the Pottuvil Magistrate's Court.
Excise officers who participated in the raid further stated that nearly 50 such illegal places exist within the Arugam Bay tourist zone.
