Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa expressed views regarding the letter forwarded to the President by the Chief Prelates concerning the proposal to extend the retirement age of judges.
This was during the media briefing held today (11) to inform Cabinet decisions.
Clarifying facts regarding this, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa stated that after considering the contents of the letter presented by the Chief Prelates and other parties, the government decided to directly discuss with them.
Accordingly, the Minister confirmed that Justice Minister Harshana Nanayakkara and himself met the Chief Prelates on the instructions of the President.
