The dead body of the individual who died falling into a precipice of around 300 feet from a rock plane located in an Indolawatta hermitage in Ayagama was retrieved this (16) afternoon, police stated.
The deceased aged 59, has been identified as a person from Dumbara Manana, Ayagama.
Police state that this individual left home on August 9 stating he was going to a relative's house, and went missing from August 10.
Accordingly, during a search conducted following a complaint received by police, his pair of shoes and umbrella were found at the location entering the monastery.
Thereafter, in an operation conducted by police using drone cameras on August 13, his dead body was found in a 300-feet precipice.
Army Commando Regiment soldiers were deployed in a special operation to retrieve the dead body of the individual, the Army said.
