The Sri Lanka Air Force successfully controlled a sudden wildfire that broke out in the Purawasamkulam area in Vavuniya.
Acting upon a notification received from the Purawasamkulam Police and as the fire spread rapidly, the fire and rescue team of the Air Force swiftly mobilised to the area and took necessary steps to control the fire.
The Air Force stated that this action minimised severe damage that could have occurred to the nearby forest reserve as well as the Vavuniya University premises.
