Draining the water in the Bowatenna Reservoir commences today (24), Engineer in charge of the reservoir Buddhika Navaratne says.
Studying the silt and sand accumulated in the reservoir after 50 years since starting the Bowatenna Reservoir, removing them, and cleaning will be carried out here.
Removing silt in the Kala Wewa water supply where water is released from the reservoir is also scheduled to be carried out.
However, the engineer in charge of the reservoir stated that this will not cause a disruption to the water supply to downstream catchment areas.
