The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka will introduce changes to its visa application procedures from August 21, 2026, following the opening of the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Colombo.
Under the new system, all regular visa applications, including the submission and collection of passports, will be handled exclusively through the Visa Application Centre.
Applicants will be required to submit their visa applications and passports through the Centre, while passports with issued visas will also be returned through the same facility. All visa applicants are required to make a prior appointment through the Visa Application Centre’s website.
The new centre, officially named the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Colombo, is located at Dr. Danister De Silva Mawatha, Colombo 09. It will commence operations on August 21.
The centre can be contacted by email at [email protected].
However, the Embassy will continue to accept Diplomatic and Official visa applications directly. Such applications must be accompanied by a Third Person Note (TPN) issued by Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.
The opening of the Visa Application Centre will also bring changes to the Embassy’s existing online reservation procedure for consular services. The current online reservation system for visa applications will no longer be available following the opening of the Centre.
The Embassy will, however, continue to process applications for notarisation services and Police Clearance Certificates, also known as Criminal Records Certificates, directly at the Embassy. Its online reservation system for these services will therefore remain in operation.
The Embassy said the changes were aimed at making the visa application process more efficient and convenient for applicants and thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation during the transition to the new system.
